WELSH ONCE AGAIN DELIVERS, SPRUCE KINGS BEAT LANGLEY 4-2

Nolan Welsh’s two goals and Jett Alexander’s 34 saves led the Prince George Spruce Kings to a 4-2 victory against the Langley Rivermen.

In the opening frame, both teams were able to trade chances, shots, and power plays. Both teams found themselves 0 for on the man advantage in the first period.

In the second period, Langley began the period on the man advantage and struck first. Joseph Musa received a pass on the back door from Brendan Budy and shovelled it past the glove of Jett Alexander to give the Rivermen the lead. Langley went right back to the power play a few minutes later and converted once again. Devin Leduc got a hard pass in the high slot accidentally from Budy as he was trying to fire the pass cross-ice. Instead, it went on the stick of Leduc and he went top corner on Alexander to give the Rivermen a 2-0 lead. The Spruce power play was struggling in the first half of the game, but then it eventually came through. Estevan, SK product Preston Brodziak tapped the puck past goaltender Braedon Fleming to get PG on the board on the PP at 16:05. Jaxon Steele and Tom Richter got the assists on the Brodziak marker. 28 seconds later, Prince George found themselves right back on the man advantage. Nolan Welsh redirected the puck off a sharp pass from Chong Min Lee to tie the game at two. Welsh’s sixth of the year came at 17:55 to tie the game up after two periods.

In the final frame, it took until 11:28 for a goal, and it came from the Captain. Welsh fired the puck past Fleming to give the Spruce Kings a 3-2 lead. Lee and Nick Poisson were credited for the assists. Langley began to press in the dying seconds with the net empty, but Chong Min Lee forced a turnover and fired the puck in the empty to solidify a 4-2 Spruce Kings victory.

Next up for Prince George is Langley once again tomorrow night at the RMCA. That one is slated for a 7:00 puck drop. You can catch all of the action on Mixlr and HockeyTV. Pre game will be at 6:45 with play by play at 7:00.
