PHOTO: Cherie Morgan

PENTICTON BC – Two goals in under two minutes in the second period from Rowan Miller and Luc Laylin had the Spruce Kings ahead in Game 2, but the Penticton Vees rattled off five unanswered goals, to protect home ice, beating the Spruce Kings by a 6-2 score. The Vees lead the series two games to none, heading back to the RMCA for Game 3 on Monday.

1st PERIOD:

PEN: Off a Spruce Kings turnover in their own, the puck got to Josh Nadeau, and he dished it to the left circle for his brother Bradly who wired a one-timer by the blocker side of Fairlie to give the Vees a 1-0 lead. Bradly Nadeau’s third of the playoffs was assisted his brother Josh at 11:31.

2nd PERIOD:

PG: Nick Rhéaume was at the Penticton line, before spotting a streaking Rowan Miller down the middle, and Miller got behind the defence and made a move, and shovelled the puck under the right pad of Kaeden Lane to tie the game at one. Miller’s third of the playoffs was assisted by Rheaume and Simon Labelle at 4:06.

PG: Shorty after Miller’s goal, Prince George went to their first power-play and were able to covert. A Josh Wright pass found Luc Laylin at the top of the left circle and ripped a one timer through the legs of Lane to give the visitors the lead. Laylin’s team leading sixth goal of the post-season, had the helpers credited to Wright and John Herrington at 5:50.

PEN: The Vees were able to hold the zone off another Spruce Kings defensive zone turnover, and the puck eventually found Josh Nadeau in the slot who put home his fourth of the playoffs. The Nadeau tally was assisted to his brother Bradly and Adam Eisele at 9:02.

PEN: On a Vee power-play, it was again Josh Nadeau doing damage, scoring his second of the night, set up by both Aydar Suniev and Braden Doyle at 14:42.

PEN: On another Penticton man advantage, Luc Wilson spotted Brett Moravec in front of the Spruce Kings goal and redirected through Fairlie to make it 5-2. Moravec’s fourth of the playoffs was set up by both Wilson and Grayson Arnott at 9:19.

PEN: On another Vee power-play, Adam Eisele played the puck in front of the goal, and the puck redirected off of Colton Cameron and by Jordan Fairlie to make it 6-2. Eisele got credited for his second of the playoffs, with the assists being handed out to Bradly Nadeau and Aydar Suniev.
