Spruce Kings blank Powell River to kick off Island road swing

Another offensive night from Ben Brar set up the Prince George Spruce Kings on Friday as they earned a 3-0 shutout win over the Powell River Kings.

The 20-year-old forward opened the scoring with the game’s first two goals beating Powell River goaltender Mitch Adamyk.

Brar would then collect his third point of the game in the second period feeding Ben Poisson for the insurance goal.

Prince George outshot Powell River 25-16 with Logan Neaton getting the shutout.

Dustin Manz and Patrick Cozzi also pitched in with a pair of helpers.

The Spruce Kings improve their record to 16-7-0-1 and are three points back of the Chilliwack Chiefs for top spot in the Mainland Division.

The three-game Vancouver Island road trip continues on Saturday against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
