PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Spruce Kings have acquired defenceman Kai Greaves from the BCHL’s Alberni Valley Bulldogs in exchange for future considerations.
In 47 regular season games with the Bulldogs during the 2021-22 BCHL season, the Cambridge, Ontario product scored two goals and 12 assists for a combined total of 14 points. He showcased a disciplined style of play along the blueline, only spending six minutes in the penalty box.
Come playoffs, Graves played in 10 post-season games for Alberni Valley. In those games, the 19-year-old scored one goal and four assists (five points).
Prior to his arrival to the BCHL, Greaves played the 2019-20 season as a member of the Waterloo Siskins in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. In that season, he played in 48 regular season games, scoring five goals and 16 assists (21 points). In the post-season, he added two goals and three assists (five points) in six games.
“We’re excited to have Kai join our program,” states Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes. “He’s a big, strong player with a ton of ability who will make our group on the backend much stronger. Most importantly, he’s a great young man who will fit seamlessly with our Spruce Kings culture.”
Greaves brings his six-foot-two and 183-pound frame to Prince George.
Kai is the brother of goaltender Jet Greaves, who is currently listed as a member of the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League.
