PRINCE GEORGE – The BC Hockey League announced its 2023-24 regular season schedule on Friday.

The season will begin on Friday, Sep. 22 and conclude on Sunday, Mar. 31, consisting of 54 games for each team.

For the Prince George Spruce Kings, they will begin their campaign on Saturday, Sept. 23 in Salmon Arm when they take on the Silverbacks at the Shaw Centre.

The Spruce Kings will then host their home opener the following weekend at Kopar Memorial Arena, taking on the Chilliwack Chiefs on Friday, Sept. 29.

Something new for the Spruce Kings this year will feature all Saturday games beginning at 6:00 PM. The team believes this provides a more fan-friendly start time for games on those days. Friday and other weekday games will stick with a 7:00 PM start time.

The Spruce Kings final home game of the 2023-24 season will be Mar. 23 against the Vernon Vipers. The team will then hit the road the following weekend, playing in Vernon on Friday, Mar. 29 before concluding the schedule on Mar. 30 in Merritt against the Centennials.

In total, the Spruce Kings will play 12 games at home on Fridays, 12 games at home on Saturdays, two Wednesday home games, 11 road games on both Fridays and Saturdays, along with one road game on Sunday (Jan. 14), Monday (will wrap up a three-game road trip on Vancouver Island versus Alberni Valley on Feb. 19), Tuesday (Oct. 10 @ Merritt) and Wednesday (Oct. 11 @ Penticton).

The BCHL Showcase will take place in Seattle from Oct. 22 to 26. The full schedule for that event will be announced at a later date.
