The Prince George Spruce Kings fell 4-1 to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks to wrap up the BCHL Showcase in Nisku, Alberta on Monday afternoon.
Ethan Stewart scored his first of the year at 17:15 of the opening frame to get Prince George on the board when Dominic Szczygiel found him on the right side streaking to the net as he beat Mikkel Christensen to make it 1-0 as the Spruce Kings were outshot 13-6 in the first 20 minutes.
Early in the second period, the Silverbacks needed just 10 seconds on a 4 on 3 power play, as Cash Olson ripped one past Cody Arnold to tie the game at one.
At 11:16, Chase Campbell snuck free and beat Arnold off a pass from Cohen Hoening after the Silverbacks worked the puck loose off the wall.
Vital Dinis deflected a power-play goal home at 18:59 to give the Silverbacks the 3-1 lead through two periods.
The scoring was completed at 5:25 of the third, as Mstislav Shipilin found the back of the net from the left side to make it 4-1. The Spruce Kings only mustered 21 shots in the game, including just 4 in the third period.
Prince George will finally face a division opponent next weekend when they visit the Surrey Eagles and Langley Rivermen in the lower mainland. Puck drop on Friday night goes at 7:00 pm with all the action on FloHockey and for the first time this season, 99.3 REWIND Radio.
