Spruce Kings make it six in a row with win over Coquitlam

It may have looked a little harder than it should have, but the Prince George Spruce Kings zeroed in and didn’t look back on Friday.

After being locked in a 1-1 tie at the end of 40 minutes against the Coquitlam Express, the Spruce Kings exploded for three goals in the final 20 minutes skating to a 4-2 victory against their Mainland Division rival.

Nick Poisson, Liam Watson Brawn and Dustin Manz all found the back of the cage to ice the victory for Prince George who improve to 33-12-1-5 on the season, seven points back of the Chilliwack Chiefs for the pennant.

The Spruce Kings went 2-for-6 on the power-play while Logan Neaton posted a 21-save victory.

Ben Brar notched his 28th of the season in the first period.

Jared Power and Pito Walton replied for the Express in defeat.

Prince George returns to Langley tonight to entertain the Rivermen, who they beat 4-1 on Monday.

The team’s three-game road trip will conclude on Sunday against the Surrey Eagles.
