Spruce Kings continue hot-streak with wins over Langley, Surrey

With the playoffs a couple short weeks away, the Prince George Spruce Kings continued to ascend their play over the weekend.

Prince George went a perfect three-for-three against Mainland Division opponents, the last two victories in very convincing fashion against the Langley Rivermen and Surrey Eagles.

On Saturday, the Spruce Kings wasted little time establishing dominance against the Rivermen skating to an easy 6-0 victory.

Ben Brar and Liam Watson-Brawn lit the lamp in the opening frame giving the visitors an early 2-0 lead.

The Spruce Kings came out like gangbusters in the middle period with three more goals courtesy of Corey Cunningham, Spencer DenBeste, and Lucas Vanroboys extending the advantage to 5-0 zip.

Vanroboys then added his second of the night mid-way through the third period putting the icing on the cake.

Logan Neaton collected the 17-save shutout while Braedon Fleming and Shayne Battler both allowed three goals each for Langley.

The road swing concluded with a Sunday matinee in Surrey as Prince George scored four unanswered goals after falling behind 1-0 early in the first period to come away with the 4-1 victory.

Nick Bochen finished a three-way passing play from Dylan Anhorn and, Dustin Manz on the power-play to even the score at one after 20 minutes.

The second period was the Spruce Kings best friend for the second consecutive night as Manz, Layton Ahac, and Spencer DenBeste all potted singles to close out the victory.

Prince George remains five back of the Chilliwack Chiefs for the Mainland Division lead.

The boys are back in action on Thursday for a Valentine’s Day special against the West Kelowna Warriors.

Puck Drop is 7pm at the RMCA.
