CHILLIWACK BC – A dominant performance from start to finish from the Prince George Spruce Kings, exploding for five goals, and holding their opposition to just 16 shots, was just what was needed as PG wins their third in a row, defeating the Chilliwack Chiefs 5-2 on Saturday night at the Chilliwack Coliseum.

1st Period:

PG: 4:30 into the opening frame, Christian Buono got a feed from Andrew Seaman and wired a shot from the left circle over the shoulder of Mathieu Caron to kick start the Spruce Kings offence. Buono’s 7th of the pod was assisted by Andrew Seaman and Mason Waite.

PG: In the dying seconds of a Chilliwack power-play, Kilian McGregor-Bennett forced a Chiefs turnover in the neutral zone, carried the puck down the left wing and made a gorgeous feed to Rowan Miller who had a heck of a finish, deking around Caron to give the Spruce Kings a 2-0 lead. The short-handed tally for Miller was his third the pod, and the helpers were credited to McGregor-Bennett and Mason Waite at 7:13.

2nd Period:

PG: 4:03 into the second frame, Christian Buono made a pretty feed at the Chilliwack blue line to find John Herrington in transition and tipped it right through the legs of Caron to give the Spruce Kings a 3-0 lead. Buono and Andrew Seaman had the two helpers.

PG: Just over a minute later, Kolton Cousins was bumped to the ice in the corner in the Chilliwack zone, got right back up and got the puck right to his stick and had a fantastic finish around Caron to give the Spruce Kings a 4-0 lead. Cousins’ fourth of the pod was assisted by Nick Rhéaume at 5:29 of the second period.

CWK: Late in the frame on a Chilliwack power-play, Jackson Munro got the puck at the left circle and squeaked It through the five hole of Aaron Trotter to get the Chiefs on the board. Munro’s third of the pod was assisted by Tanner Andrew and Kyle Penney at 18:56.

3rd Period:

PG: On a Chief power-play, the Spruce Kings were able to win the faceoff, and Kolton Cousins was able to get the puck in his own end and took the puck coast to coast and went short side on Caron for Cousins’ second of the night. Cousins fifth in the pod was unassisted at 14:11.

CWK: On the same Chiefs power-play, a Kyle Penney shot was initially stopped by Trotter, but the rebound went to the stick of Ray Fust and put it by Trotter for the Chiefs second power-play goal of the night. Fust’s fourth of the season was assisted by Penney, and Sasha Teleguine at 14:55.
