SPRUCE KINGS FALL 2-1 TO START 5 GAME HOMESTAND

PRINCE GEORGE BC – A goal from Nick Bochen and 29 shots to the Powell River goal was not enough as the Prince George Spruce Kings were edged 2-1 by the Powell River Kings.

In a fast-paced opening frame, Powell River found themselves on the man advantage. It took just eight seconds into the power-play for Brett Roloson to find the back of the net. Roloson got a feed right in front of the goal and released a one-time shot past Jett Alexander to give Powell River a 1-0 after the opening twenty minutes.

In the second frame, it was again Roloson on the power-play to give the Kings a 2-0 lead. Roloson raced the puck into the attacking zone and shot the puck underneath the glove of Alexander and upped the lead to 2-0 for the Powell River Kings. A few minutes later, Prince George was able to get their first power-play of the afternoon. It was at the 14-minute mark, where a Nick Bochen point shot made its way through traffic and past goaltender Derek Krall to get the Spruce Kings on the board and to make the game 2-1.

The Spruce Kings had a pair of power-plays in the final period but were unable to find the equalizer as Powell River wrapped up their road trip with a 2-1 win on a Sunday Afternoon at the RMCA.

The Spruce Kings home-stand continues, as they host the Chilliwack Chiefs for a pair of games beginning Thursday night at the RMCA. That one is slated for a 7:00 PM puck drop. You can get your tickets at the Spruce Kings office or online on the Spruce Kings website. If you are unable to make it, you can catch all of the action on the Spruce Kings Hockey Network at mixlr.com/sprucekings or on HockeyTV. Pre-game will kick off around 6:45 with play by play coming at 7.
