PREVIEW: Prince George Spruce Kings vs. Wenatchee Wild (Game #5)

This afternoon, at the Chilliwack Coliseum, the Prince George Spruce Kings take to the ice for their first of two games at the BCHL Showcase, as they take on the Wenatchee Wild at 1:00 PM.  The Spruce Kings are coming off a 5-2 victory over the Merritt Centennials on Saturday night at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.

THE FRENCH CONNECTION

The line of Nick Rhéaume, Simon Labelle, and Rowan Miller shined this past weekend against the Merritt Centennials. All three Spruce Kings forwards were named stars on Saturday and combined for 6 points on Saturday night vs the Centennials. Rhéaume now leads all Spruce Kings skaters with nine points in the Spruce Kings’ first four games of the regular season, while Labelle and Miller both have five points apiece.

 

THE MAN ADVANTAGE

 Early on, Prince George has been able to find their touch on the power-play. The Spruce Kings hold the best power-play percentage in the BC Hockey League heading into this Wednesday matinee against the Wenatchee Wild. Prince George has already scored eight power-play goals in four games.

NHL BLOOD LINES

The Wild added a defenceman this offseason with a very familiar last name. 2004 born David Hejudk is the son of former Colorado Avalanche legend Milan Hejduk who is a Stanley Cup Champion. The 17-year-old, who is already committed to Harvard University, stands at 6’1 200 pounds has suited up in both Wild games thus far in the 2021-22 season.

 

ANOTHER FAMILIAR LAST NAME

 The Wild committed to forward to a very familiar name just under a year ago, by the name of Cade Littler. Littler is the son of Wild long-time GM Bliss Littler. The 17-year-old forward already leads the team in points in the teams opening four games. The East Wenatchee product has two goals and one assist in the teams opening four games.
