PRINCE GEORGE- The Prince George Spruce Kings are thrilled to share that Owen Goodbrand (’04) has announced his commitment to play NCAA Divison 1 hockey at Bentley University!
I am very honoured and proud to announce my commitment to play Divison 1 hockey and further my education at Bentley University,” said Goodbrand. “I would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who has played a role in my life and helped me achieve this goal. My family, billet families, coaches, teammates, and friends.”
Goodbrand continued.
“Lastly, I would not be at this stage in my journey without the help and support of the Spruce Kings organization. The coaches, management, and environment continuously make me look forward to improving each and every day. I am looking forward to the rest of the season and what the future holds!”
After starting his BCHL Career with the Cowichan Valley Capitals, Goodbrand was acquired by the Spruce Kings on January 6, 2023. Since then, “Goody” has been extremely productive. In 59 games with Prince George, Goodbrand has recorded 11 goals and 32 points, 25 of those points coming in 39 games this season.
“We are very proud of Owen. He and his family are very deserving of this achievement,” said Head Coach Alex Evin. ” Since joining the Spruce Kings last season, we have seen Owen grow as a person and a player. We hope he keeps developing within our program until he joins Bentley in the Future.”
Goodbrand has been the Spruce King’s top-line centre all season. He also is a part of the leadership group, wearing an alternate-captain patch on the ice.
“Owen is a great person, teammate and player,” said Mike Hawes, General Manager of the Prince George Spruce Kings. “He plays the game hard and the right way every time he steps on the ice. This achievement is very well deserved.”
The Bentley University Falcons, located in Waltham, Massachusetts, competes in the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA). Goodbrand will join Spruce Kings alumni, Colton Cameron (Fr) and Nick Bochen (Sr) at Bentley University.
