Game Preview | Spruce Kings vs. Chiefs | May 9th 2021

Tonight, at the Chilliwack Coliseum, the Prince George Spruce Kings take on the Chilliwack Chiefs at 5 PM for the right to be named Chilliwack Pod Winners. Tonight, marks the 20th and final game of the pod season for both Hockey clubs. The Spruce Kings are coming off a 3-0 victory over the Merritt Centennials two nights ago. Hunor Torzsok, Christian Buono, and Kolton all tallied for Prince George, while Jordan Fairlie earned a 15 save shutout. The Chiefs on the other hand are also coming off a victory over the Cents last night to force a winner take all game tonight against PG.

THE 20 BOMBS

Tonight, marks the final junior hockey game for 20-year old’s Tanner Main, Hunor Torzsok, Christian Buono, and captain Mason Waite. Andrew Seaman is also one of the twenty-year old’s but unfortunately is out due to injury. The twenty-year old’s on the Spruce Kings roster have combined for 43 goals and 38 assists in the 19 games in the pod. Buono sits 11th in BCHL scoring with 13 goals and 11 assists, while Waite sits 2nd out of all BCHL defenceman in points with four goals and 13 assists in 16 games played.

Forward and captain Kyle Penney just might be the hottest player offensively heading into tonight’s game for the Chilliwack Chiefs. Penney has 11 points in his last eight games heading into tonight. The Coal Harbour, NS product and Cornell University commit also had a goal against the Centennials in their victory last night.
