Fox’s Early Tally All Spruce Kings Can Muster Offensively, Drop 5-1 Decision vs. Penticton

PRINCE GEORGE – An early first period marker from Nathan Fox was all the Prince George Spruce Kings could muster offensively, as they dropped a 5-1 decision to the Penticton Vees at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.

1st PERIOD:

 PG: 4:07 into the opening period, a Connor Elliott wrist shot from the left point got tipped in the high slot by Nathan Fox and by Kaeden Lane to give the Spruce Kings the lead. Fox’s first goal as a Spruce King was assisted by both Elliott and Ty Gagno.

2nd PERIOD:

 PEN: Josh Nadeau received a feed from Fin Williams and Nadeau fired a wrist shot top corner and glove side on Aaron Trotter to tie the game. Nadeau’s team leading 14th of the season had the lone helper credited to Williams at 4:29.

PEN: A minute and a half later, Stefano Bottini got the puck at the right circle and his shot snuck its way by Trotter to give Penticton the lead. Bottini’s sixth of the season was assisted bt Frank Djurasevic at 5:59.

PEN: At 14:45 of the second, Casey McDonald won a puck battle in tight off a faceoff and made a move around Trotter to his back hand to put the Vees ahead 3-1. McDonald’s eighth of the year was unassisted.

3rd PERIOD:

 PEN: On a Vees man advantage, Luc Wilson got the puck at the left circle and wired it top shelf on the glove side of Aaron Trotter to open up the Penticton lead to 4-1. Wilson’s 12th of the year was assisted to both Grayson Arnott and Josh Nadeau at 2:24.

PEN: At 11:25 of the final frame, a mad scramble occurred after a pair of saves from Jordan Fairlie, the puck found the stick of Spencer Smith who slid home the Vees fifth tally of the night. Smith’s third of the year had the helpers credited to both Grayson Arnott and Fin Williams.
