The Prince George Spruce Kings will find themselves looking for their first win of the season against two separate opponents this weekend. The Cranbrook Bucks swept the weekend series in early December at Kopar Memorial Arena, so the Spruce Kings will look play spoiler at Western Financial Place on Friday night.

The Prince George Spruce Kings return back to Kopar Memorial Arena for a doubleheader against the Merritt Centennials after a three-game road trip last weekend. The division rivals have already met three times this season with the Spruce Kings currently holding a 2-1 season series lead.

The first meeting between these two sides came in Prince George back in October when the Spruce Kings defeated the Centennials 6-4. That was then followed up by a pair of games in November at Nicola Valley Memorial Arena. Those games were split when the Centennials defeated PG 3-2, followed up by a 7-5 Spruce Kings win the following afternoon on Remembrance Day.

While the Spruce Kings enter the weekend being 3-2 in their last five games, the Cents are riding a four-game losing streak.

Luca Primerano returns to the Spruce Kings lineup tonight from injury. The Spruce Kings will be happy to have their rookie back as he led the team in assists prior to his injury ahead of the BCHL All-Star break.

The Spruce Kings will be without Scott Cousins for a few more games at least as the Western Hockey League’s Kelowna Rockets continue to utilize the Prince George product in their lineup this weekend.

For Merritt, Jesse Ivanovic will make his BCHL debut Friday night. The Centennials’ affiliate player joins the club from the Okanagan Hockey Academy.
