Weekend Preview: Prince George Spruce Kings host Chilliwack and Merritt in home opening weekend

PRINCE GEORGE- It’s the first weekend of hockey at Kopar Memorial Arena. The Prince George Spruce Kings opened their 2023-24 BCHL season last weekend in Salmon Arm. Now, the Chilliwack Chiefs and Merritt Centennials come to the northern capital.

The doors of Kopar Memorial Arena will open on Friday, September 29, to welcome the Chilliwack Chiefs. In addition to the on-ice action, The Spruce Kings will honour the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation before Friday’s game, which you can read about here.

The Spruce Kings only had one matchup with the Chiefs a season ago when they went on the road to the Chilliwack Coliseum.

Friday night will be the first of two matchups between the Spruce Kings and the Chiefs this season.

On Saturday, the Merritt Centennials will be in Prince George for the Spruce King’s third game of the season.
