Valiant Effort Comes Up Short As Spruce Kings Fall 4-2 vs. Coquitlam

PRINCE GEORGE, BC – Goals from Carter Cochrane and Mason Waite and 32 shots to the Coquitlam goal was not enough as the Spruce Kings were doubled up the Coquitlam Express 4-2 on Friday night in front of a boisterous 1200 plus at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.

1st Period:

COQ: 17 seconds into the opening period, Joshua Wildauer slapped the puck from an awkward angle shy of the goal line that found its way past Carter Woodside to give the Express an early lead. Steven Bellini had the lone helper on Wildauer’s tally.

PG: At 13:41 of the opening frame, Carter Cochrane received a pretty feed from Andrew Seaman and fired the puck through the legs of Jack Watson to tie the game at one. Seaman and Corey Cunningham had the assists on Cochrane’s 5th of the season.

COQ: At 16:50 on an Express power-play, Ethan O’Rourke got a rebound right in front of Watson and fired it past Woodside to give the Express a 2-1 lead. Massimo Rizzo and Steven Bellini had the two helpers on O’Rourke’s 16th of the season in his first game back since being sidelined with an injury.

COQ: At 18:24, it was again Josh Wildauer throwing the puck to the goal and it ended up squeezing by Carter Woodside to give the Express a 3-1 lead. Wildauer’s second of the night and 22nd of the year was unassisted.
