VERNON- It was a tough Saturday night for the Prince George Spruce Kings.

After fighting hard against Penticton Friday night, the Spruce Kings were handed their second straight loss Saturday in Vernon.

It was a packed Kal Tire Place as the Vipers were hosting their teddy bear toss game. It didn’t take long for the stuffed animals to fly. Less than five minutes into the game, Anthony Cliche (’03) buried his eighth goal of the season past Spruce Kings starting goalie Ryan Sanborn (’05).

The Spruce Kings would respond quickly. Luca Primerano (’05) would bury home his third goal of the season. Kai Greaves (’03) let a shot go from the point that created a rebound, and Primerano did the rest. 1-1 would be the score after the first period.

The Spruce Kings would lose their grip on the game in the second period. Vernon would score twice in 30 seconds, which resulted in Sanborn being pulled in favour of Marcus Ouellet (’04).

Near the end of the second period, Skogen Schrott (’05) would high-stick a Vernon forward in front of the net, leading to a four-minute Vipers power play. Shea Busch (’07) would capitalize, scoring his sixth goal of the year. 4-1 the score after two periods.

It wouldn’t take Vernon a minute to score in the third period. Owen Kim (’04) would put his seventh goal of the season past Ouellet, leading to Ryan Sanborn re-entering the game.

Max Ranström (’04) would score the second and final Spruce Kings goal of the game. A one-timer from the point would sail past Vipers goalie Colin Reay (’05).

Vernon would score once more. The final score in Vernon was 6-2 Vipers.
