PRINCE GEORGE, BC – The Prince George Spruce Kings began their Junior Hockey journey in September 1972, and this season marks 50 years of Junior Hockey in Prince George.
Today, the Spruce Kings are pleased to unveil their 50th Anniversary Logo, which is available on pucks, hats, t-shirts, and hoodies, which all launched at the Spruce Kings Shop at 10:30 AM.
In addition to the logo release, the Spruce Kings have unveiled 4 jerseys to be worn on “Decade Nights”, the featured games on the Spruce Kings Schedule that will honour the 80’s, 90’s, 00’s, and 2010’s. These jersey flash back to the era they were worn in, with the return of the sawblade logo on both the 90’s and 00’s jersey. An additional Jersey for the 1970’s will be unveiled as part of the BCHL 60th Anniversary Retro Night Series.
The Spruce Kings and Pattison Media also announced a 10-game play-by-play package on 99.3 REWIND Radio starting Saturday October 9th when the Spruce Kings visit the West Kelowna Warriors. Nine other games will be spread out throughout the season, featuring 8 road contests and 1 home contest on Thursday December 9th against the Cranbrook Bucks.
Four players from the Spruce Kings modelled the new merchandise available at www.sprucekingsshop.ca as well, with the 50th Anniversary Line and Vintage Lineup on display. T-shirts and Hoodies from Campus Crew join hats and toques from Pukka as new offerings this season. A traditional Navy/Red line is also available.
The 50th Anniversary Season begins on Friday October 8th, with the Spruce Kings Home Opener on Friday October 15th against the Merritt Centennials. Season Tickets are still on sale, with returning Season Ticket Members having control of their seats until September 24th, 2021.
