Spruce Kings Explode For 4 Goals In Final Period, Snap 7 Game Skid, Defeat Vipers 5-1

PRINCE GEORGE BC – A pair of goals from both John Herrington and Nick Rheaume and a single from Dylan Schives, gave the Spruce Kings a big 5-1 victory over the Vernon Vipers to snap their seven-game losing streak. Aaron Trotter got the win in goal, making nine saves.

1st PERIOD:

 VER: Ryan Shostak got out of the penalty box and raced into the middle and into the attacking zone, received a feed from JoJo Tanaka-Campbell, and Shostak roofed it top corner on Aaron Trotter to make it 1-0. Shostak’s 10th of the season was assisted by Tanaka-Campbell at 6:44.

2nd PERIOD:

 PG: A Colton Cameron point shot was initially stopped by Ethan David and John Herrington got a couple whacks at a rebound and put it by the Viper netminder to tie the game at one. Herrington’s 22nd of the season was assisted by both Colton Cameron and Simon Labelle at 6:06.

3rd PERIOD:

 PG: The Spruce Kings were back on the man advantage, and they were able to convert. Nick Rhéaume spotted John Herrington at the right circle and Herrington wired a one timer by David to give the home side a 2-1 lead. Herrington’s second of the night and 23rd of the year was assisted by both Luc Laylin and Nick Rhéaume at 4:14

PG: A few moments later on a 5 on 3, Nick Rheaume got a feed at the right circle, and he also hammered a one-time shot to give the Spruce Kings a 3-1 lead. Rhéaume’s team leading 26th of the season was assisted by John Herrington and Luc Laylin at 4:50.

PG: The Spruce Kings were on yet another power-play, and converted once again, courtesy of Nick Rheaume. Rheaume got the puck at the left circle and wristed it by David to make it 4-1. Rhéaume’s second of the night and 27th of the season was assisted by John Herrington and Simon Labelle at 6:23.

PG: At 14:51 of the third stanza, Dylan Schives got a feed from Colton Cameron and Schives rushed up the left wing into the offensive zone, and he fired it glove side on David to up the Spruce Kings lead to 5-1. Schives’ third of the season was assisted by Colton Cameron.
