The Prince George Spruce Kings are very excited to announce that forward Ethan de Jong has been invited to the CJHL prospects game in Cornwall Ontario on January 25th.
De Jong sits second for 1999 born players in the BCHL with 28 points in 38 games. He is second in rookie scoring amongst Spruce Kings players only behind Chong Lee. In the BCHL, he is third in rookie assists with 23. In December, de Jong was invited to try out for Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge. The forward from North Vancouver committed to the Spruce Kings last year after leading the Burnaby Winter Club Prep team in scoring with 84 points in 56 games. “I love getting these experiences like the Canada West camp. It was so much fun, and great hockey so I’m really excited and honoured to be named to this team and I think it’s going to be a great experience. I don’t know too many guys there, but it’s all about meeting new people and getting a good experience out of it. I want to head over there, be myself, play my game, and hopefully it all goes well,” said de Jong.
“We are happy that Ethan has earned the right to participate in this great event. He has been exceptional for our team this season and he continues to get better every day. He has a bright future in the game and I know he will represent himself and our organization very well,” said Prince George Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes.
Each of the players chosen to participate in the CJHL Prospects Game were selected through the efforts of NHL Central Scouting and are currently among the top 40 CJHL prospects heading into the 2017 NHL Draft in Chicago. De Jong is the 11th player named to Team West from the British Columbia Hockey League.
The CJHL Prospects Game is one of the premier Junior A hockey events in the country and provides tremendous exposure for CJHL players to play in front of scouts from all over the hockey world – including the NHL, NCAA, Major Junior and Canadian universities and colleges.
