Eagles soar past Spruce Kings in the third period

For the second consecutive weekend, the Prince George Spruce Kings came up empty at the end of a three-game road trip.

Prince George fell 4-2 to the Surrey Eagles on Sunday, which was highlighted by a three-goal third period by the hosts.

After a scoreless opening period, the Spruce Kings found themselves up by a 2-1 margin at the conclusion of 40 minutes courtesy of Kyle Johnson and Ethan de Jong.

However, the wheels came off at the start of the final frame when Desi Burgart notched his 8th goal of the season just 43 seconds into the period.

From there, Surrey struck twice more within a span of 16 seconds when Domenic Masellis and Cody Schiavon put the game out of reach beating Bradley Cooper.

Cooper made 20 saves in defeat for the Spruce Kings while Nic Tallarico picked up the victory in net for the Eagles.

Prince George falls to 8-7-2-3 and are now five points back of the Langley Rivermen for the Mainland Division lead.

Both teams meet in the northern capital on Friday and Saturday at 7 PM from the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
