For over 30 years the Spruce Kings have operated as a non-profit, community owned society governed by a Board of Directors. Often many people, other non-profit groups and events see the Spruce Kings as a privately owned hockey club since they are a high profile and long-time sports team here in Prince George.

The Spruce Kings operate on funds generated through their Show Home Lottery Draw, advertising revenue, and in-game 50/50 raffle. These funds are then used for expenses such as team travel, bus fuel and repair, player meals on the road, hotel rooms, staff wages, player equipment, player travel, medical expenses, and the list goes on and on.

Over the years the Spruce Kings have assisted many non-profit groups, events, schools, business promotions, etc. There are no cash donations provided but it may be in the form of game tickets, autographed pictures or player appearances to bring a warm smile to a child. We try to make each situation or request a benefit to that cause while at the same time maintaining our non-profit, community image; that is, being responsible to our corporate partners, season ticket holders, Show Home Lottery Ticket purchasers, members and the community as a whole.
