  1. US

The Spruce Kings are coming off an impressive weekend, with a weekend sweep of the Langley Rivermen. The latest win came this past Saturday night, defeating Langley 6-3. Forward Kolton Cousins finished with a hat trick and one assist, while defenseman Evan Orr had a goal and three assists in the victory. Jett Alexander finished with 25 saves in the Spruce Kings win. This was the first time the Spruce Kings have put together back-to-back wins this season. Cousins says getting those two wins is a stress of the shoulders and is very excited about tonight’s clash with the Express…

“It’s good to get that monkey off the back. They are our division rivals so it was huge to get points off of them. Hopefully, we build off this and have a big week coming up starting against Coquitlam”.

THEM

The Express are coming off a 4-1 win against the Chilliwack Chiefs at the Chilliwack Coliseum. Express forward Massimo Rizzo finished with two goals, while leading point getter Steven Bellini finished with three points in the win as well. Goaltender and reigning BCHL Player of the Week Clay Stevenson got the win in goal making 16 saves. Coquitlam is currently having the best start to a season in the team’s franchise history going into tonight’s matchup with Prince George

  1. US VS THEM

This is the second of eight meetings between the division rivals. The Express drew first blood, defeating the Spruce Kings at home by a 5-1 score. The Spruce Kings were without several players due to injury, and Coquitlam executed. The Express had five different players with two point nights. Preston Brodziak had the lone goal in the set back for Prince George.

  1. THIS AND THAT

THIS: Following tonight’s matchup with Coquitlam, the Spruce Kings will have an off day Thursday before a date with the Surrey Eagles on Friday night at the South Surrey Arena. That matchup is scheduled for a 7:00 puck drop. THAT: Defenceman Evan Orr is coming off his best game so far as a Spruce King. The Detroit native had four points including a power-play goal in the 6-3 win against the Langley Rivermen.

  1. PLAYERS TO WATCH

 SPRUCE KINGS –(F) PRESTON BRODZIAK

Brodziak has been an absolute horse for the Spruce Kings this season. The Estevan, SK native is tied for the team lead in goals and got credited with second star honours this past Friday night against Langley. Brodziak was also the lone goal scorer for the Spruce Kings the last time they met the Express and had a good amount of scoring chances.

EXPRESS – (F) MASSIMO RIZZO

Rizzo is a player to watch at all times. The Carolina Hurricanes draft pick has been playing some great hockey as of late. Rizzo has played just 13 games this year since being back from injury and is averaging over a point per game heading into tonight’s matchup with Prince George.

You can catch all of tonight’s action on HockeyTV or Mixlr. Pre-Game will be at 6:55 with play by play at 7:15.
