Weekend Preview: Spruce Kings venture to Okanagan for two-game road trip

This weekend will be the Prince George Spruce Kings’ last visit to the Okanagan for the regular season. A pair of games with two different storylines. On the one hand, the Spruce Kings take on the West Kelowna Warriors and visit Royal LePage Place, a building they’ve been unable to find a win in this season. On the other, they’ll venture to Kal Tire Place on Saturday to face the Vernon Vipers. The Spruce Kings have won each of the previous trips to Vernon this season and will look to complete the sweep inside the Vipers’ building.

Wins have been hard for the Spruce Kings to come by whenever they visit West Kelowna. In the last five years, the Spruce Kings have only been able to find the win column on one occasion. That was back on February 1, 2020, when PG came away with a 3-1 victory.

Pittsburgh Penguins draftee Luke Devlin has been a strong performer against the Spruce Kings this season. Through the four meetings of these two sides, Devlin has scored six points (three goals, three assists).

For Prince George, it’s been Austin Fraser who’s had the scoring touch despite his team not finding much success in the final results. Fraser has matched Devlin’s six points through four games, scoring four goals and two assists.
