Two Third Period Goals Lift Spruce Kings To 4th Win In A Row Defeating Victoria 3-2

CHILLIWACK BC – Goals from Kolton Cousins, Jimmy Doyle, and Nick Rhéaume along with two massive shot blocks courtesy of Colton Cameron and Cousins was what lifted the Prince George Spruce Kings to their fourth win a row, defeating the Victoria Grizzlies 3-2 at the BCHL Showcase.

2nd PERIOD:

 PG: On the dying seconds of a Prince George power-play. A point shot from Colton Cameron was stopped by Carter Woodside, the rebound from Kilian McGregor-Bennett was stopped by Woodside, but it was Kolton Cousins who was finally able to bang home the loose change at the left side of the goal to give the Spruce Kings a 1-0 lead. The captain’s fourth goal of the season was assisted by both Cameron and McGregor-Bennett at 8:36.

3rd PERIOD:

PG: 2:48 into the third period, the puck was thrown to the goal and was touched last by Jimmy Doyle as the puck pinballed by Woodside to make it 2-0 Spruce Kings. Doyle’s second of the season was assisted by both Ben LeFranc and Ty Gagno.

VIC: Less than a minute later, the Grizzlies got one back. Isack Bandu spotted Devon DeVries in front of the goal and slid it by Jordan Fairlie to get the Grizzlies on the board. DeVries’ second of the season came from both Bandu and Kalen Szeto at 3:44.

PG: After a goal disallowed in the second period off the stick of Nick Rhéaume, the Sherbrooke, QC product left no doubt in the third and wired a wrist shot top shelf on Carter Woodside to regain the Spruce Kings two-goal lead. Rhéaume’s fourth of the season was assisted by both of his line mates in Simon Labelle and Rowan Miller at 5:22.

VIC: Late in the frame, the Grizzlies cut into the Spruce King lead, courtesy of Andrew Amousse. It was again Bandu who spotted the Grizzlies forward and put it by Fairlie to make it 3-2. Amousse’s first of the season was assisted by Bandu and Devon DeVries at 17:57.
