CRANBROOK BC – Five different Prince George Spruce Kings goal scorers, and a 36 save shutout from Aaron Trotter was the perfect recipe for the visitors to snag a 5-0 victory over the Cranbrook Bucks. The Spruce Kings finish the Kootenay road trip with three out of four points.

1st PERIOD:

PG: It was Ty Gagno to start the scoring around the mid-way of the opening period. On a Spruce Kings power-play, a shot from Dylan Schives was blocked by a Bucks defender, the puck remained underneath the defender as he was labouring on the ice, Luc Laylin shovelled it free to Gagno at the left circle and fired it by goaltender Nathan Airey to make it 1-0. Gagno’s fifth of the season was assisted by both Laylin and Schives at 9:41.

PG: Just over four minutes later, the puck came to Kilian McGregor-Bennett inside the right circle, and McGregor-Bennett shovelled a back-hander top shelf on the blocker side of Airey to make it 2-0 Prince George. McGregor-Bennett’s fifth of the season was assisted by Ty Gagno and Evan Fedele at 13:51.

2nd PERIOD:

PG: 4:49 into the second, it was great work from Rowan Miller, Nick Rheaume, and Simon Labelle in the attacking zone, and Labelle spotted Miller inside the right circle and Miller wired it by Airey to make it 3-0. Miller’s 12th of the year was assisted by both his line mates in Rheaume and Labelle.

PG: In the final minutes of the second stanza, an odd man rush developed for the Spruce Kings as John Herrington spotted Colton Cameron streaking up the left wing, the shot from Cameron was stopped, but the rebound came in tight to Luc Laylin who shovelled it in to make it 4-0. Laylin’s third of the year came 4 on 4 and was assisted by both Cameron and Herrington at 17:25.
