SPRUCE KINGS VS. GRIZZLIES PREVIEW 09/13/19

The Spruce Kings 4-game home stand continues as they host the Victoria Grizzlies tonight at the RMCA, scheduled for a 7:00 puck drop. Both clubs come into tonight’s contest, looking for their first win of the young 2019-2020 campaign.

The Spruce Kings are coming off a 1-point opening weekend where they suffered two setbacks, falling 4-2 and 4-3 in overtime in the hands of the Surrey Eagles. Although, it was not the result Prince George was looking for, there were some positives from the weekend. Returning players Nick Poisson and Fin Williams delivered, as they had 3 points each in the opening two games. The Spruce Kings have welcomed a new face to the roster. Defenceman Evan Orr out of Detroit, Michigan will be in the Spruce Kings line-up tonight. The ’01 born defender played with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights of the NAHL where Orr had 16 points in 48 games, also having 101 penalty minutes.

 

Across the ice, are the Victoria Grizzlies. The Grizzlies are also coming off a tough loss where they fell to the Cowichan Valley Capitals by an 8-2 score. Although, the Grizzlies have the lost the likes of Colorado Avalanche draft pick Alex Newhook and goaltender Kurtis Chapman, Victoria still has some firepower. Marty Westhaver return’s to the province capital after scoring 16 goals in the 2018-19 regular season. The Grizzlies have also seen some production a game into the season from forward Edward Yan, who managed to get a couple points in the season opener.

Tonight’s game will be on 93.1 CFIS FM, as well as HockeyTV. Pre-game is scheduled for 6:45, with play-by-play at 7.
