Spruce Kings vs Bulldogs Preview 09/27/19

The Prince George Spruce Kings return to home ice tonight to take on the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. Prince George comes home with just one win out of three games on their mainland road trip, where the Kings defeated the Langley Rivermen by a 2-1 score. The two losses came at the hands of both the Chilliwack Chiefs and the Coquitlam Express.

Prince George made two acquisitions earlier this week, acquiring forward Kolton Cousins from the Cowichan Valley Capitals in exchange for defenceman Nolan Barrett. Cousins says he is excited for a new start in Prince George, “It is already unreal. I was surprised at how big the city is, but it has been awesome. The players have been very welcoming and the coaching staff has been awesome”. Prince George also acquired defenseman Mason Waite in exchange for forward Mack Stewart. Waite finished with 24 points in the Bobcat colours last year, and tonight will be his first game of the season. Both Cousins and Waite will be in the Spruce Kings line-up tonight.

The Spruce Kings have a couple of men down up front and on the back end, which will now give an opportunity for Mathew Magrath (defenceman) and John Herrington (forward) a chance to wear Spruce King colours. Both will be the affiliated players for tonight Magrath and Herrington are members of the Cariboo Cougars, Herrington being the captain of the team.

The Bulldogs on the other hand come into this weekend sporting a 3-4 record. The Bulldogs have won 2 of their last 3, there last win coming against the Nanaimo Clippers by a 2-1 score. Joe Martin’s club has been lead by forward Mitch Deelstra who currently sits with eight points in his team’s first seven games of the season.

You can catch all of tonight’s action on 93.1 CFIS FM or on Hockey TV. Pre-game will kick off at 6:45 with play-by-play coming at 7:00.
