Spruce Kings Season Comes To An End After 3-1 Loss Against Trail

PRINCE GEORGE BC – A power-play goal late in the first period from Corey Cunningham was all the offence the Spruce Kings could muster as Prince George’s season came to an end falling 3-1 to the Trail Smoke Eaters in Game 4 of the Interior Division Quarter-Finals.

1st Period:

PG: 17:42 into the first period on the power-play, Spruce Kings forward and PG native Corey Cunningham ripped the puck right under the arm of goaltender Logan Terness to give the Spruce Kings a 1-0 lead. Nolan Welsh and Fin Williams had the two helpers on Cunningham’s first of the playoffs.

2nd Period:

 

TRA: At 15:01 on the power-play, Smoke Eaters Captain Phil Lapointe got the puck at the right circle and fired a laser top corner on Carter Woodside to tie the game at one. Chase Dafoe and Diarmad DiMirro had the helpers on Lapointe’s 3rd of the playoffs.

 

SHOTS: 10-9 Trail

 

3rd Period:

TRA: 1:54 into the 3rd period, on a delayed penalty call, a point shot from Jameson Murray was stopped by Carter Woodside, however the rebound fumbled on a Spruce King stick and found its way into the back of the net to make it 2-1 Trail. Murray did get credited with his first of the playoffs.

TRA: At 18:43 with the net empty, it was again Murray who got the puck at the right circle and fired it into the empty cage to seal it for the Smoke Eaters. Kent Johnson had the lone assist on Murray’s 2nd of the evening and playoffs.
