Spruce Kings Offense Soars in 8-1 win over Eagles

The Prince George Spruce Kings got a pair of goals from both Marcus Lougheed and Carter Hesselgrave in a 8-1 win over the Surrey Eagles on Friday night at South Surrey Arena.

Lougheed got the Spruce Kings on the board at 8:37 off a pass from Matic Perčič and ripped one top shelf on Jaiden Sharma.

The Eagles replied 16 seconds later as Shin Yoon Min slipped the puck into an open cage off a back door pass from Dryden Kuramoto, but it was all Prince George after that.

Lougheed’s second of the night came off a one-timer from a 2 on 1 rush with Kazumo Sasaki who was sent up the half wall by Isaac Holt.

The Spruce Kings power play struck twice on a 4-minute high-sticking call, as Ozbej Rep scored his first in the BCHL from Lougheed and Sasaki, before Sasaki scored his 10th of the year from Rep and Tai Ushio.

Hesselgrave made it 5-1 at 2:42 of the second from Mason Loewen and River Arnason, before Jackson Froysland got in on the scoring at 4:05 from Dominic Szczygiel and Ryan Wachtel.

Hesselgrave’s second of the night was the result of a beautiful 3-way passing play as Loewen found Arnason who slid it over to Hesselgrave who deflected it into the open net.

Loewen scored one of his own at 11:49 of the third from Rep and Hesslgrave on a breakaway to round out the scoring.

Final Shots on goal were 58-29 in favour of the Spruce Kings.

Prince George is back in action tomorrow night at 7:15 in Langley against the Rivermen.
