Spruce Kings fall to Bandits

The Brooks Bandits finished the round robin portion of the 2019 National Junior A Championship with a 4-0 record after a 3-1 victory over the Prince George Spruce Kings on Thursday night in Brooks.

The Bandits got on the board first late in the first period as Carter Wolski wrapped one around and threw it on goal from the goal line. The puck hopped over the shoulder of Logan Neaton and crawled over the line.

In the second, Prince George tied the game up late in the period and Nick Poisson deflected a Dylan Anhorn point shot past Pierce Charleson to make it 1-1 with 1:07 left in the frame.

In the third, Andrew Lucas popped a rebound over Logan Neaton, after the Spruce Kings goaltender ended up getting bumped in the crease by a stick and fell down, unable to make a miraculous save to keep it tied.

Brooks added an empty net goal with 12 seconds remaining.

The Spruce Kings will take on the Oakville Blades in the semi-final on Saturday at 6 PM Pacific Time, while the Brooks Bandits will take on the Ottawa Jr Senators earlier in the day at 1 PM Pacific.
