Spruce Kings Drop 4-1 Decision in Chilliwack

CHILLIWACK, BC – Nolan Welsh scored his 14th of the year tonight, however, that was all the offence provided for the Prince George Spruce Kings as they fell 4-1 to the Chilliwack Chiefs at the Chilliwack Coliseum in the final meeting of the season series.

 

 

1st Period:

CWK: 3:00 into the opening frame, Tommy Lyons was able to rip the puck past Carter Woodside to give the Chiefs an early lead. Peter Reynolds and Nikita Nesterenko had the two helpers.

 

SHOTS: 15-4 Chilliwack

 

 

2nd Period:

 

CWK: At 8:33 of the second, Connor Milburn was able to whack home his 3rd of the season. Nick Cherkowski and Jack Agnew had the helpers on the Milburn tally.

CWK: Arlo Merritt wheeled the puck into the attacking zone, ripped the puck off the post and got his own rebound and potted it home past Woodside to make it 3-0 Chilliwack. Tommy Lyons and Nathan Kelly were credited with the helpers on Merritt’s 14th of the season

PG: At 16:36 of the period, a mad scramble ensued in front of the Chilliwack goal and Nolan Welsh was able to shovel the puck past goaltender Mathieu Caron to get the Spruce Kings on the board. Corey Cunningham and Colton Cameron had the two assists on Welsh’s 14th goal of the season

3rd Period:

CWK: At 7:58, Nicholas Cherkowski got a back door feed from Connor Milburn and put it by Woodside to restore the three-goal lead for the Chiefs. Connor Milburn and Cooper Moore had the two assists on Cherkowski’s 2nd of the season.
