Spruce Kings crown the Chiefs in Chilliwack

Maybe the Prince George Spruce Kings should play the Chilliwack Chiefs more often.

A three-game road trip through the Mainland Division got off to a solid start on Friday thanks to a 3-0 win over the RBC Cup hosts.

After a scoreless first period, the Spruce Kings drew first blood in the middle frame thanks to a goal from Shawn Kennedy who tapped home a Luc Salem feed to give the visitors a 1-0 lead after 40 minutes.

Prince George kept swarming the Chiefs in the third with two more goals courtesy of Ben Brar who collected his 6th and 7th of the BCHL season respectively.

Evan DeBrouwer also picked up the 29 save shutout in net.

The game also marked the debut of former Cariboo Cougars Reid Perepeluk who was recently re-assigned by the Prince George Cougars.

The Spruce Kings continue the road swing tomorrow in Langley and Sunday against the Surrey Eagles.

The Rivermen remain a point up on the Spruce Kings for the Mainland Division lead.
