PRINCE GEORGE BC – The Prince George Spruce Kings are excited to announce that D Dylan Schives (’01) will join the roster for the 2021-22 season.

“First off I’ve got to mention how excited I am to be in Prince George! A good friend of mine played there, Lucas Vanroboys and he only had great things to say about the Spruce Kings. I also had great conversations over the phone with a lot of the hockey staff and they were all very good phone calls.”

A native of Tilbury, Ontario, the 5’10- and 190-pound defender spent the 2020-21 season both with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior League (QMJHL). Schives has a bundle of Junior Hockey experience, including 128 games played in the QMJHL. The incoming 20-year-old talked about what Spruce Kings fans can expect from him when he dons the blue, red, and white.

“I’m an offensive defenseman that jumps in the rush as long as the puck is out of our end and going up the ice.”

After several discussions with Schives, General Manager Mike Hawes says the 20-year-old checks a lot of boxes that he and his coaching staff were looking for.

“We’re thrilled to add a veteran like Dylan to our team. I was very impressed with conversations with Dylan. He checks all the boxes regarding the type of person we like to bring into our group. Combine that with his on-ice abilities and leadership traits and I know he will be a huge part of our team this season.”

The Spruce Kings would like to welcome Dylan and his family to the organization and to the city of PG!
