LEE’S LATE GAME HEROIC GIVE SPRUCE KINGS A 2-1 VICTORY

LANGLEY BC | Some late game heroics courtesy of Fin Williams and Chong Min Lee led the Spruce Kings to a 2-1 victory at the George Preston Arena in Langley.

In the opening frame, both clubs had a power play each, but were unable to convert. Not many shots were fired in the opening frame either, which kept the game scoreless after 20 minutes.

In the second, Jett Alexander was huge. The 6’5 goaltender made some huge saves on the PK as well as a penalty shot. It was at the midway point; when Joseph Musa placed a picture perfect shot over Alexander going bar down to give Langley the lead. The Spruce Kings were held to just four shots in the second frame. Defenseman Evan Orr suffered a tough collision, which forced him to leave the game with an upper body injury.

In the final frame, a spark was lit underneath the Prince George Spruce Kings. After some decent looks and chances, it took until 13:29 of the period where Fin Williams was pressing on the fore-check, stole the puck and fired it through the wickets of goaltender Braedon Fleming to tie things up. In the final minute of the third, on a delayed call, Nick Poisson took the initial shot in the slot and Chong Min Lee found the puck sitting in the blue paint and whacked it home to give the Spruce Kings a 2-1 lead. That was all that was needed as the Spruce Kings skate to a 2-1 victory against the Langley Rivermen.

Lee the game winning goal scorer knew tonight’s win was huge for the club’s morale, “We learned so much from last night’s game, we have to work very hard on road games, and I thought all the guys did a great job”.

The Spruce Kings wrap up the three in three tomorrow afternoon against the Coquitlam Express at the Poirer Sport and Leisure Complex in Coquitlam. Puck drop is slated for 3:00.
