Late Game Heroics From Schives And 34 Saves From Fairlie Lead Spruce Kings To 3-1 Victory Over West Kelowna

PRINCE GEORGE BC – A late goal in the final minute of the third period from Dylan Schives and great goaltending from Jordan Fairlie led the Spruce Kings to back-to-back wins as they gutted out a 3-1 victory over the West Kelowna Warriors at the RMCA.

1st PERIOD:

 PG: Luc Laylin got a feed from Dylan Schives at the right wing, Laylin spotted John Herrington streaking into the attacking zone, the Herrington shot was stopped, but the rebound came back to the Hudson’s Hope product, and he got shovelled it by Johnny Derrick to give the Spruce Kings the lead. Herrington’s team leading 15th of the season was assisted by both Laylin and Schives at 7:41.

3rd PERIOD:

 WK: Tyler Cristall was able to pick the pocket of a Spruce King defender at the left circle and spotted Chase Dafoe in tight, and Dafoe shovelled it through the legs of Jordan Fairlie to tie the game at one. Dafoe’s ninth of the campaign was assisted by Cristall at 8:04.

PG: In the final minute of the third stanza, Dylan took the puck from his own zone, and weaved into the Warrior zone and skated to the right circle and fired a wrist shot through Johnny Derrick to give Prince George the lead. Prince George’s second goal of the game was scored by number 2, his second of the season, with 52.2 seconds remaining. Amran Bhabra had the lone helper.

PG: With the Warriors net empty, a point-blank opportunity in tight from the Warriors was stopped by the glove and Jordan Fairlie, and the puck ricocheted to John Herrington and threw it 200 feet, all the way into the Warrior goal to give Prince George a 3-1 lead. Herrington’s 16th of the season was assisted by Jordan Fairlie at 19:31.
