Mike Hawes has been given a three extension on his contract as the team’s GM

PRINCE GEORGE, BC – The Prince George Spruce Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) are pleased to announce that General Manager Mike Hawes has been signed to a three year contract extension which takes him through the 2017/2018 season. Hawes still has one year remaining on his existing deal through the 2014/2015 season.

Mike Hawes is entering his 10th season with the Spruce Kings after joining the organization in 2005. During that time he served as associate coach for two seasons, including a silver medal finish in the 2007 Royal Bank Cup which was hosted by the Spruce Kings and the City of Prince George. Hawes then moved to the managerial side of the organization to become the Assistant General Manager for four seasons before being named General Manager in November 2010.

“Under Mike’s leadership our organization has enjoyed stability unmatched since joining the BCHL,” said Spruce Kings President, Thomas Bohmer. “To secure the leadership for our group moving forward is the foundation for continued success and a run at a championship.”

“I am a very proud resident of Prince George having grown up in the city,” said Spruce Kings General Manager, Mike Hawes. “I understand what it means to live in the north and what the Spruce Kings mean to the hard working people of Prince George. I take a lot of pride in what I do with the Spruce Kings, and I work hard to put a team on the ice that our fans can be proud of every night.”

Mike Hawes and the Spruce Kings continue to work hard in the off season to prepare for the team’s training camp which will start on Friday August 29th. The Spruce Kings regular season will begin on September 19th at the BCHL showcase in Chilliwack. The remainder of the regular season schedule will be determined at the BCHL league meetings in early June.
