GAME PREVIEW: Prince George Spruce Kings vs. Penticton Vees (Game #30)

Tonight, at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena, the Prince George Spruce Kings wrap up the three-game home-stand as they take on the Penticton Vees at 7:00 PM. The Spruce Kings are coming off a 5-1 victory this past Saturday night against the Merritt Centennials. Colton Cameron, Luc Laylin, Austin Fraser, John Herrington, and Ty Gagno all scored for the home team, while Aaron Trotter made 13 saves in the victory.

THE NEW GUY

 The Vees were able to bolster their defensive core prior to the trade deadline, by adding defender and LA Kings 2019 draft pick Braden Doyle. Doyle, out of Lynnfield, MA spent the first portion of the season at Boston University before joining the Vees roster. The 20-year-old defenceman has appeared in just one game for Penticton thus far and recorded an assist.

VEES NOTES:

 -Goaltender Kaeden Lane leads the BCHL in wins (15)

-Luc Wilson leads the BCHL in power-play points (20)

-The Vees are 17-3 this season when scoring the first goal

THE NEWEST NCAA COMMIT

 19-year-old defender and third year Spruce King Colton Cameron has been a spark on the back end for the Spruce Kings. The newly Bentley commit has notched six points in his last five games and now has 16 points in the 21-22 campaign. Cameron was named the first star in Saturday’s win over Merritt and was also named an honourable mention for the BCHL player of the week along with his teammate Dylan Schives.

 -The Spruce Kings have recorded points in six straight games

-Luc Laylin has 12 points in 12 games as a Spruce King

-John Herrington has three goals in his last two games
