Game Preview: Prince George Spruce Kings @ Chilliwack Chiefs – April 3rd, 2021

Tonight, at the Chilliwack Coliseum in Chilliwack, the Prince George Spruce Kings look to secure their first win of the 2021 Pod season when they battle their mainland rival Chilliwack Chiefs. Tonight marks the Spruce Kings first game of the 20 game season, while the Chiefs are coming off a 5-2 victory on Friday night against the Merritt Centennials.

THE ‘WAITE’ IS OVER

 

The Spruce Kings are led on the backend by the team captain and St. Lawrence commit Mason Waite heading into the 2021 pod season in Chilliwack. Waite led all Spruce Kings defenceman in points in the Exhibition season. In the 2019-20 season, Waite also led all Spruce Kings defenders in goals with nine.

 

 

‘CARTZ’ IS BACK

 

Spruce Kings centreman Carter Cochrane was unable to appear in any games for the Spruce Kings in the Exhibition season due to a lower body injury. The retuning forward has been itching to get back in the lineup and will get that opportunity this evening. Cochrane finished with 14 points in the 2019-20 season.

‘BOWEN’ ARROW

 

2020 Anaheim Ducks draft pick Ethan Bowen had an impressive start to the young season. The North Dakota commit finished with two goals and an assist en route to a 5-2 victory over Merritt. Bowen finished with 31 points in 41 games with Chilliwack in the 2019-20 season.

 

 

 

CAPTAIN PENNEY

 

The newly named Chiefs captain Kyle Penney had an impressive night last night as well. The Coal Harbour, NS product tallied a goal and a helper for the Chiefs. Penney also finished with 38 points in 58 games in the 2019-20 campaign.
