Doyle Cup Even at 1-1

After the Prince George Spruce Kings took Game 1 of the Doyle Cup on Friday night, the Brooks Bandits did not want that to happen again.

The Bandits threw 22 shots on Logan Neaton in the first period, scoring twice, and got an insurance marker in the third period to beat the Spruce Kings 3-1 in Game 2 Saturday night.

Tyler Campbell got the Bandits on the board at 3:01, snapping home a shot from the slot off a pass from behind the net as he caught the Spruce Kings defense off guard.

A power-play goal would be the next tally for the Bandits, as Arnaud Vachon made it 2-0 at 8:44, in a period that saw Brooks out shoot Prince George 22-3.

Fin Williams scored the lone goal for the Spruce Kings, beating Pierce Charleson upstairs to cut the lead to 1 with just over 4 minutes left in the middle frame.

Jakob Lee would get the insurance goal in the third period, as the Spruce Kings could only get 4 shots on goal to push their total to 14 in the hockey game.

Neaton was named 3rd star for his 38 save performance.

The loss snapped the Spruce Kings 14-game winning streak.

Game 3 of the Doyle Cup goes Sunday night in Brooks at 7 PM local time (6 PM in BC). Games 4 and 5 will be in Prince George on Wednesday and Thursday night. Some tickets are still available online at www.sprucekings.bc.ca
