Coquitlam’s second period explosion sinks Spruce Kings

The Prince George Spruce Kings took their foot off the gas pedal for 20 minutes and it proved to be costly.

On Sunday, the Coquitlam Express exploded for four-goals in the middle frame enroot to a 5-3 victory against the Spruce Kings.

After Ben Brar put the visitors up by a deuce after 20 minutes, Coquitlam put up a strong rally, lighting the lamp  on consecutive tries courtesy of former Surrey Eagle Chase Danol, Josh Wildauer (2) and Regan Kimens – solving Logan Neaton who made 25 stops in defeat for Prince George.

Coquitlam would score again early in the third to extend the advantage coming off the stick of Christian Sanda making it 5-2.

Local product Corey Cunningham rippled his fourth of the season at the end of the game following a pass from Brar who was named the BCHL Player of the Week on Monday.

Prince George continues its six-game road trip this upcoming weekend with stops in Trail, Wenatchee and Salmon Arm.
