Community Support Was The Key

The Spruce Kings say thank you and recognize the phenominal community support

Once again, Northern BC has proven that it has a heart bigger than any other community. With only 14 days to go in the Spruce Kings Show Home Lottery, there were still 900 tickets to be sold. At 9:15 a.m. on the day of the draw, we had a sellout for the seventh time in eight years.

This incredible achievement would not have been possible without the generosity of our supporters – many of whom opened their wallets more than once. They recognized the need to help out their community-owned hockey team and they responded.

Special thanks must also go out to The Prince George Citizen, CKPG TV, 101.3 The River and 99.3 The Drive who made a sellout their personal goal. They went well beyond the call of duty to create the mass public awareness which was so critical to our success – something they frequently do for so many other important causes.

It may be early in the year, but already the 2014/15 hockey season promises to be one for the history books. Last week, not only did the Spruce Kings Show Home Lottery sell out, but the Cougars attracted over 1,500 hockey fans to a media event where they ushered in a ‘new ice age.’ With this powerful display of community support, the upcoming hockey season will surely be a watershed year for hockey in Prince George.

See you at the rink in September.
