Captain Poisson plays OT Hero

The Prince George Spruce Kings are one win away.

Ben Poisson potted the overtime winner (his second OT winner in the last 4 games) to give the Spruce Kings a 4-3 win on Tuesday night over the Vernon Vipers.

Prince George got on the board in the first period as Corey Cunningham showed off some silky moves, sliding the puck behind Aidan Porter after Layton Ahac found him all alone in front.

The Vipers would tie the game early in the second period as Teddy Wooding deflected the cross ice pass past Logan Neaton.

Max Coyle and Lane Zablocki would trade power play goals before the end of the frame to keep it tied heading to the third.

In the third, Nick Poisson would give the Spruce Kings the lead at 2:47, beating Porter up high to make it 3-2.

It was Zablocki’s second of the night that tied the  game with 2:20 remaining in regulation, beating Neaton with a wrist shot.

In overtime, hard work by Ben Poisson got the puck to Chong Min Lee who then found Nick Poison. The initial shot was stopped, before the captain found the puck and slid it between the legs of Porter to end the game at 12:07 of OT.

Logan Neaton made 44 saves in the victory, as the Spruce Kings won their 12th straight playoff game.

Game 4 of the Fred Page Cup Final goes Wednesday night in Vernon. Puck Drops at 7 PM.
