Thanks to a rocket of a shot, it’s no wonder Ben Poisson had strong pitcher’s numbers last year. Playing in 52 games, the rookie from the Burnaby Winter Club had 12 goals and four assists while taking just three minor penalties all season.

Playing the Wenatchee Wild seems to work well for Poisson, as he scored his first goal in the BCHL as an AP callup down in the Town Toyota Center during the 2015/16 season. For 2016/17, he scored his first goal of the year against the Wild, and when it came to playoff goals, you guessed it, his first came against Wenatchee again.

Poisson was a player was counted right through the lineup in his first year in the league. He started on the “youth line” alongside billet brothers Travis Schneider (1998) and Ethan de Jong (1999). As the season went along, Poisson slid up to the top line on a few occasions, and with his sturdy frame of 6′ and 180 lbs was also used in a checking role. Later in the season he also started taking minutes on the penalty kill, which should prove valuable this year as the team loses one of it’s best PK men in Brett Mennear.
