Adam Brubacher Traded to Powell River for Colton Sandberg and Futures

The Prince George Spruce Kings would like to announce that they have traded 20 year old defencemen Adam Brubacher to the Powell River Kings in exchange for 1997 defenseman Colton Sandberg, and future considerations.

In his first season in Prince George, Adam Brubacher was leading the team in points with 32 points in 41 games. The defenseman was one of the primary leaders to step up in the absence of Jake LeBrun after the captain’s injury. Brubacher led the team in goals (13), power play goals (8), and game winning goals (2). The Elmira, Ontario native will have had his share of “Kings” team’s as he played for the Elmira Sugar Kings in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League the last three years, the Spruce Kings this season, and will finish the year off with the Kings in Powell River. Brubacher will be joining Powell River who currently sit third in Island Division, but just one point behind the Cowichan Valley Capitals. “Adam has had a tremendous season for us. He has been everything we hoped he would be when we recruited him last summer. Not only is he a great player in all areas of the ice, he is also a top notch individual. This move gives Adam the opportunity to join an excellent organization that is hoping to make a long playoff run as he continues to work towards his goal of obtaining an NCAA division 1 scholarship. We wish nothing but success to Adam for the rest of this season and into the future,” said Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes.

This is Sandberg’s second full season, and has racked up in three points in just 17 games while playing on the blue line. The defender missed all of October with an injury, and hasn’t played since the final game before the Christmas break, but is expected to be back in a few weeks. All three of Sandberg’s points came in his final eight games played. His first BCHL came last year in the playoffs where he scored in double OT against the Victoria Grizzlies to send the Kings onto the 2nd round. The Delta native is a graduate of Delta Hockey Academy Prep. “Colton Sandberg is a young defenseman with good size and hockey instincts. It’s nice to be able to add a quality player and quality young man to our group. He is a great fit for our organization as we move forward and look to the future,” said Mike Hawes.
