  1. US

The Spruce Kings are coming off of a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Chilliwack Chiefs. Mason Waite and Carter Cochrane had the two Spruce King tallies while both Jett Alexander and Carter Woodside both saw action last night as Woodside came in relief after Alexander allowed three goals on eleven Chilliwack shots. Prince George outshot the Chiefs 31-27 and had some very quality chances, despite falling by one goal for the eleventh time this season. Prince George looks to right the ship tonight and earn a split with the 2nd Place Chilliwack Chiefs.

  1. THEM

The Chiefs earned a big two points on the road against the Spruce Kings last night. Kyle Penney, Joey Larson, and Nikita Nesterenko all found the back of the net last night to give Chilliwack the win. Mathieu Caron was solid in goal making 29 saves on 31 PG shots. The Chiefs still remain in 2nd place in the Mainland Division as they now improve to 15-9-4-2 and sit with 36 points.

  1. US vs. THEM

This is the sixth meeting between these clubs. Chilliwack has won 4 of the 5 matchups. Three of the five games between the Spruce Kings and Chiefs have been decided by one goal.

  1. THIS AND THAT

THIS: Following tonight’s game with the Chiefs, the Spruce Kings home-stand continues as they host the Coquitlam Express for Drop the Gloves and Sock it to Em’ night where the Spruce Kings will be wearing the special Christmas Jerseys. THAT: Carter Woodside has now come in relief in two of his three games played with the Spruce Kings. Woodside has not allowed a goal in relief in those two outings.

  1. PLAYERS TO WATCH

SPRUCE KINGS: (F) NOLAN WELSH

Welsh is a player who brings it every shift. The captain is the ultimate competitor and has had some success against Chilliwack during this tenure as a Prince George Spruce King. Welsh looks to keep that going into tonight’s clash with the Chiefs on home ice.

CHIEFS: (G) MATHIEU CARON

The Chiefs goaltender has been solid in nearly every game he has played against Prince George. He made some big time stops last night to keep his club in the game. If Chilliwack wants to be successful, number 62 will need to be sharp once again.
