  1. US

The Spruce Kings are coming off a 2-1 loss at the hands of the Nanaimo Clippers this past Wednesday night at the Frank Crane Arena in Nanaimo. Corey Cunningham had the lone goal for the Spruce Kings, while goaltender Jett Alexander made 42 saves in the setback for Prince George. The Spruce had several looks to tie the game late, but were unable to solve goaltender Jordan Naylor late in the game. The Spruce Kings now head into their third game of the five game road trip tonight in Merritt.

THEM

The Centennials are coming off a comeback victory this past Sunday afternoon in Surrey against the Eagles. The Centennials scored five times in the final frame, to beat Surrey 5-3. Cents forward and point and goal leader Josh Kagan had a hat trick in the win. Forwards Jake McLean and Wyatt Marlow also got tallies for the Centennials in the victory. Just over a week and a half ago, the Centennials acquired forward Christian Buono from the Powell River Kings in exchange for Brett Roloson. Buono will make his home debut for the Centennials tonight.

  1. US VS THEM

This is the first of two meetings between the Spruce Kings and Centennials. Both clubs did meet in the pre-season two times in both Merritt and Prince George. The season series between Prince George and Merritt wraps up at the RMCA in February.

  1. THIS AND THAT

THIS: Following tonight’s game with the Centennials, the Spruce Kings have two days off before a date with the Wenatchee Wild in Wenatchee on Monday night. That one is slated for a 7:00 puck drop. THAT: Corey Cunningham’s goal on Wednesday for the Spruce Kings now has him tied for 2nd with Preston Brodziak for goals this season. Nick Poisson leads the team with 11.

  1. PLAYERS TO WATCH

SPRUCE KINGS (F) NOLAN WELSH

The captain has been a workhorse. Welsh has three points in his last three games heading into tonight’s clash with the Centennials. The Whistler, BC native has delivered in big moments this season, and will look to continue that trend into tonight’s game.

CENTENNIALS – (F) JOSH KAGAN

Kagan has been no short of dynamite for the Centennials this season. The Winnipeg, Manitoba product has 16 goals in 23 games this season. That is good for second in the BCHL. Kagan is also coming off a hat trick performance this past Sunday against the Surrey Eagles.
