  1. US

The Spruce Kings return home for a three-game home stand after getting just one out of a possible six points on their mainland road trip. The Spruce Kings got a late goal a week ago from Chong Min Lee against Coquitlam, eventually leading to a shootout loss. Prince George then had two losses coming against Surrey and Chilliwack.

Spruce Kings points leader Nick Poisson his club just needs to keep trucking along, and hopes his club can get on the right track at home tonight,

“I thought we played a really good game last Wednesday forcing overtime, the other two games you really just have to have a short memory and move on and focus on the positives”.

THEM

The Vipers are coming off back to back losses in Trail against the Smoke Eaters. The Vipers currently sit 4th in the Interior Division. The Vipers have been led offensively by several players including captain Connor Marritt, as well as Matt Kowalski, and Dawson Holt. The Vipers have also recently acquired goaltender James Porter Jr from the Kelowna Rockets. Porter Jr just had his debut last weekend against the Smoke Eaters. The Vipers lengthy road trip continues after tonight as they take on the Langley Rivermen on Friday night.

  1. US VS THEM

This is the first of two meetings between the two clubs. The last time these two teams meet was Game 4 of the Fred Page Cup in Vernon where Prince George hoisted the Fred Page Cup. The next time these clubs meet will be in late January at the Kal Tire Centre in Vernon.

  1. THIS AND THAT

THIS: Following tonight’s clash with the Vipers, the Spruce Kings continue their home stand as they host the Island Division leading Cowichan Valley Capitals on Friday night at the RMCA. THAT: John Herrington will be in the Spruce Kings lineup tonight. The Cariboo Cougars captain will wear number 11 tonight as the Spruce Kings affiliated player.

  1. PLAYERS TO WATCH

 SPRUCE KINGS (G) JETT ALEXANDER

Alexander is looking to bounce back after a couple losses on the mainland road trip. Despite his 8-9-3 record, Alexander, sports a 2.79 GAA, good for 9th in the BCHL. Alexander and the Spruce Kings look to win their 3rd game in a row on home ice tonight.

VIPERS – (F) MATT KOWALSKI

It’s hard to not notice Matt Kowalski when looking at the Vipers roster. Kowalski sits with 8 goals and has 3 of the Vipers game winning goals. Kowalski was also a catalyst in the Vipers offence last season in their playoff run. The 20-year-old can score in lots of spots and will look to do so again tonight.
