  1. US

The Spruce Kings are coming off a 2-1 loss at the hands of the Chilliwack Chiefs this past Saturday. The Spruce Kings lone goal came from Nick Poisson who got his team leading 18th point of the year.

Prince George made a pair of moves earlier this week, sending forward Brett Pfoh to Powell River in exchange for future considerations. The Spruce Kings also added 6’5 forward Wil Kushniryk. The forward has played 115 WHL games for both the Tri City Americans and the Kelowna Rockets. Kushniryk will be in the Spruce King lineup, and is excited to get started…

“My dad is from Quesnel, so I’m very familiar with the Cariboo area, and I think everything is going to be good here” says Kushniryk.

THEM

The Kings are coming off their 7th straight loss coming at the hands of the Coquitlam Express. Goaltender Braedy Euerby gave up 5 goals on 22 shots before being replaced by Mateo Paler Chow. Kings leading scorer Reilly Moran scored the lone goal for the Kings in the loss.

The Kings made a pair of acquisitions yesterday acquiring both Derek Krall from the Penticton Vees and Brett Pfoh from the Spruce Kings.

  1. US VS THEM

This is the first of two meeting between the Kings and Spruce Kings. Last year, the teams split the season series, where both teams won on the road. The next meeting between these two clubs will be in December.

  1. THIS AND THAT

THIS: Following tonight’s game with Powell River, the Spruce Kings get back on the ferry and will head to the province capital to take on the Victoria Grizzlies. That one scheduled for Saturday Night. THAT: Preston Brodziak is already on pace to beat his point total from last season. Brodziak currently sits with 10 points in his first 15 games.

  1. PLAYERS TO WATCH

SPRUCE KINGS – (F) COREY CUNNINGHAM

Cunningham has had a career year to start year three of his BCHL career. The Prince George product has already more points than he did in 47 games played last year. 12 games into the season, Cunningham has 17 points in his first 12 games.

KINGS – (F) REILLY MORAN

The Milton Massachusetts native has had a start to remember thus far on the young season. Moran leads the team in goals this season, and is a crucial catalyst to the Powell River offence.
